VARTA (short for Vertrieb , Aufladung , Reparatur , Transportabler Akkumulatoren ) is a German company founded in 1904.

The company manufactures batteries for the consumer, but also for the industry. In 1905 the AFA founded a subsidiary called VARTA . From 1962 AFA was renamed VARTA , to bring more awareness in the production of batteries for cars.
